Hope For Kai
Kai Anderson has a rare form of leukemia.
He is five years old.

A message from David & Birgit Anderson 06/04/09:

"After months of bad news in our family, we are happy to be able to finally provide some good news about Kai's condition.  Kai responded better than expected to the initial chemotherapy and an experimental drug, which has delayed the immediate need for a transplant.  At this time, Kai is being monitored very closely as he continues with the next phase of chemotherapy.  We are encouraged by this news, as this hopefully gives Kai more time to grow physically and develop cognitively before a highly risky transplant, which often leaves long term health consequences, is required.  Furthermore, this allows more time to find a perfect match donor for Kai.

At this time, we would like to thank everyone who has registered and continues to register as bone marrow donors in honor of Kai.   Not only does this bring us tremendous comfort, but it also improves the odds that Kai and others like him face in finding their perfect match donor.  We are grateful for the outpouring of support and encouragement we have received over the last weeks.  It has meant the world to us.  Finally, we would like to take this opportunity to thank all of the many volunteers who have worked tirelessly on signing up new donors.  We are forever grateful!

In gratitude,

Birgit & David"
